Abstract
The aim of this study was to show which topics recommended by the Ministry of Slovak Education and the National Institute of Education are most widely used in the French language textbooks, and vice versa, which ones are not devoted large space to. Methods in the search for answers to the given research hypothesis were the content-structure analysis, statistical methods of frequencies, mathematical methods and the questionnaire. Methods have confirmed the assumption that the most common French language textbooks do not contain all topics that are detailed in the national program and that teachers have to supplement the information on and about the topics from other materials. The most complemented topics by teachers and the most missing topics are: “Man and society”, “Multicultural society”, “Human Relationships”, “Science and Technology”, “Communication and its forms”. Furthermore, we concluded that not a single textbook series or thematic exercise book comprise all the topics. Most used books should be books that meet the thematic objective the most. However, this research did not confirm the research statement.
