Abstract
The authors of the article focus on forestry pedagogy and its specifics from its beginnings at the first forestry school to the present, while attention will also be paid to the arboretum itself and its mission and use in education. The work is devoted to the historical development of the Hrádok Arboretum, as an exceptional object of the Forestry and Timber School in Liptovský Hrádek. Let us present the most important milestones in its development, its important position in the education of pupils. We focus on the pedagogy of forestry and its specifics in the past, connecting the information gathered in the chapters devoted to the history of education. We point out the educational contribution of the arboretum. And not only within professional forestry subjects or natural science subjects. It also serves as a space for teaching local history, which is hidden in its inanimate and living parts.

Abstrakt
Autori článku sa zameriavajú na pedagogiku lesníctva a jej špecifiká od jej začiatkov na prvej lesníckej škole až po súčasnosť, pričom pozornosť je venovaná aj samotnému arborétu a jeho poslaniu a využitiu v edukácii. Práca sa venuje historickému vývoju Hrádockého arboréta, ako výnimočného objektu SOŠ lesníckej a drevárskej v Liptovskom Hrádku. Predstavujeme najdôležitejšie medzníky v jeho vývoji, jeho významné postavenie v edukácii žiakov. Venujeme sa pedagogike lesníctva a jeho špecifík v minulosti, pričom prepájame informácie zhromaždené v kapitolách venovaných dejinám školstva. Poukazujeme na edukatívny prínos arboréta. A to nielen v rámci odborných lesníckych predmetov, či predmetov prírodovedného zamerania. Poukazujeme na význam pedagogiku lesníctva, ktorá slúži ako priestor na výučbu miestnej histórie, ktorá je ukrytá v jeho neživých i živých častiach.
